About the Founder
JULIE DERY
Roughly 15 years ago, Julie got her design start interning with the creative director at SKI Magazine in Boulder, CO, and was hooked. She finished her dual Design & Consumer Science degree from the U of Wisconsin-Madison and moved to San Francisco to hone her design skills at Timbuk2 Bags. After years of being self-taught, she went back to design school before landing her dream job at world-renowned advertising agency, Wieden+Kennedy-Portland.
In 2014, she relocated to call the mountains of Jackson Hole, Wyoming home. There, she founded the design studio, Saltworks Creative, a curated creative dream team. Saltworks strives to keep the designs clean and adventure gear dirty.
She launched Saltworks Paper in 2020 — a celebration of genuine, non-digital connection and communication, through the art of letter writing. Combining her love for print design, letter writing and postcard sending, Saltworks Paper was born. A moment to sit, slow down, put pen-to-paper, and connect.
Saltworks Paper designs are inspired by topics such as mindfulness, love, empowerment, and nature. You can see influences from Scandinavian, Swedish, Japanese, and Mexican cultures and design.
